Hungry Kids of Hungary – Let You Down

With this EP release comes an epic east coast headlining tour for the Hungry Kids of Hungary and high rotation on Triple J, of which they are so deserved. Their sound is part cool-indie, part 60’s laid back tones, part up beat layered instrumentals and hints of soul and powerpop.
These two little tracks are anything but little, big vocals and big instrumentals surface to deliver Let You Down, an energetic track relaying the trials and tribulations of a complicated break up. What is so good about this track is Hungry Kid’s ability to translate these well produced rhythms and interesting instrumentals into a set on stage. I saw them in Sydney towards the end of last week, and I must say I was impressed.
The four-piece, hailing from Brisbane town, have risen above the rest to produce this killer couple of tracks. They seem to be going from strength to strength with spots at the Big Day Out and Woodford Folk festivals to bring in what is set to be a huge 2010 for the Kids.
Study Hall is a little slower paced, yet not lacking in energy. From the tin pan alley piano, to the multiple harmonies, this track is just glorious.
I have to say it: On stage or on the stereo, these kids just won’t let you down.
